Karpacz with kids — 8 attractions for any weather (2026 guide)

Brick model at the Brick Museum Karpacz — an attraction for the whole family

Is Karpacz a good idea for a family holiday with kids?

Yes — Karpacz is one of the most family-friendly towns in the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains). At the foot of Mount Śnieżka it combines mountain nature, clean air and indoor attractions that can fill a few days with a child of any age. We know it firsthand — since 2015, Magda and I have been running the Brick Museum here. Every day we meet families coming from all over Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.

The 8 best attractions in Karpacz for kids in 2026

1. The Brick Museum in Karpacz — interactive models that come to life

Address: ul. Mickiewicza 11, 58-540 Karpacz (entrance from ul. Konstytucji 3 Maja). Open daily 10:00–18:00, all year round — with one exception, 1 November (All Saints' Day in Poland).

This is our place. The first permanent museum in Poland dedicated to brick models, running uninterrupted since 6 January 2015. Three floors of exhibits, dozens of interactive models — and what matters most: it's your child (or you) who sets them in motion with buttons and joysticks. Trains roll, discos dance, and our flagship SpaceX rocket actually launches and flies into space.

Among our models you'll find a brick railway station, the world of Harry Potter, Frozen, vintage brick races, a zone of the 80s and 90s, and Mars with a rover suspended from the ceiling. Every model has a second layer — comic-book speech bubbles, hidden jokes, exhibits that entertain children and adults differently. We also run "find the figure" quests — for the youngest, a visit turns into a game.

Brick Museum pricing (2026):

  • 1 person — 35 PLN
  • 2 people — 65 PLN
  • 3 people — 95 PLN
  • 4 people — 120 PLN
  • 5 people — 145 PLN
  • Children under 90 cm tall — free admission

Average visit time is 40–60 minutes. Strollers, unfortunately, can't enter — the layout of the space doesn't allow it. You can leave them at the shop counter. Card or cash payment, VAT invoices on request before purchasing the ticket.

2. Video Game Museum in Karpacz — retro fun for the whole family

Address: same building as the Brick Museum (ul. Mickiewicza 11). Combined "Two Museums" ticket — the larger your family, the cheaper per person.

One year after the Brick Museum, we opened a second attraction in the same building: the Video Game Museum. It's over 50 years of hardware history and 30 stations where you actually play — Tetris, Super Mario, Tekken and dozens of other classics.

Among the exhibits we have real treasures: the first Magnavox Odyssey brought from the USA (the oldest home console in history) and UNITRA GTV — the first Polish Pong-style console. Plus classics that adults remember from childhood: Atari, Pegasus, Game Boy.

Combined tickets (Brick Museum + Video Game Museum): a family ticket for five people for both museums is 200 PLN — only 40 PLN per person. See the full pricing.

3. Łomnica Waterfall — a natural attraction within Karpacz itself

Location: Karpacz Górny, on the Łomnica river. Free admission.

Łomnica Waterfall lies within Karpacz, so it doesn't require longer drives or difficult trails. It's a good idea for a short, two- or three-hour walk with a child — sound of water, forest, simple terrain.

4. Chairlift to Kopa — views of the Karkonosze and the Czech Republic

Location: lower station in Karpacz. Seasonal operation — check before your visit.

The chairlift will take you to Kopa (1377 m above sea level), where a panorama opens up over the entire Karkonosze and far into the Czech Republic. Kids usually love the ride itself most — the chair, the wind, the forest below your feet. Remember a warmer jacket — at the summit it's always a few degrees cooler than in the valley.

5. "Kolorowa" Summer Toboggan Run — sledging all summer long

Location: Karpacz, Kolorowa slope.

A Karpacz classic. Alpine sledges — you ride down a track, control your own speed. Available for kids from about 3–4 years (riding with an adult) and up. One of the most chosen family attractions in town.

6. Recreational pools in Karpacz and the area — where to swim with kids?

There's no large classic water park in Karpacz itself. The nearest large recreational pools, available to outside guests depending on occupancy, are:

  • Hotel Gołębiewski Karpacz — a large water-park-style pool with several slides.
  • Hotel Sandra Spa Karpacz — a smaller recreational pool.
  • Cieplice Thermal Baths in Jelenia Góra — thermal pools, about 25 minutes by car.

7. Wang Temple and Karpacz Górny — history and a walk

Location: Karpacz Górny. Admission ticket purchased on site.

Wang Temple is a wooden church from the 12th century, brought from Norway between 1841 and 1844. For children, the building itself is fascinating — unusual, "like out of a fairy tale" — for parents, the history and atmosphere of the place. A 30–45-minute walk in Karpacz Górny, in the quiet part of town — far from the centre.

Important seasonal note (2026): the promenade in central Karpacz is completely dug up. Wang Temple in Karpacz Górny is off to the side and the works don't affect it.

8. A trip to Mount Śnieżka — for older kids and ambitious families

Destination: Mount Śnieżka, 1603 m above sea level — the highest peak of the Karkonosze.

Climbing Śnieżka is a challenge for kids from about 10 years old (or younger but tough). The trails are marked, mountain shelters along the way serve hot soups. For less ambitious families, the alternative is a walk along the Karkonosze streams or the trail to the Silesian House. Remember mountain weather: it changes in 20 minutes.

Practical information — Karpacz with kids step by step

Karpacz with a stroller? Honestly: take a baby carrier instead

This is something nobody online writes about, but they should: getting around Karpacz with a stroller is a parenting challenge no one advertises. Steep climbs everywhere, kerbs, steps, holes in pavements. The hidden solution: baby carriers, slings, hiking child carriers. In a steep town it's a far more efficient way to move around. A carrier will get you anywhere a stroller would jam.

How to get to Karpacz?

From Wrocław — about 1 h 45 min by car. From Warsaw — about 5 hours. By public transport: in 2026 you can reach Karpacz directly by train (a rail connection has been launched). Around Karpacz itself you've got Bolt, minibuses in high season and our road train with several stops.
